Message to the French people

We are both stunned and saddened by the events of October 17th in France, and by what has transpired since. As members of the Alliance Française Omaha, we wish to express our solidarity with the French people as they grapple with challenges in so many cities and communities across France.

We are grateful to France for the significant role it has played in the history of our country. As Francophiles, we fervently hope that the gifts of your civilization and culture—which have spread throughout the world since the dawn of time—will foster a swift and lasting civil peace. The conflicts you are currently experiencing are not unknown to our own nation: may the peace you succeed in establishing serve as an example to us.
