DESCRIPTION: This fall, the Salon picks up where we left off at the end of the Spring Session. We will discuss 18th-century France (pre-Revolution). Topics include the various social echelons, the "New World", writings/philosophies of les Lumieres (Montesquieu, Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot), as well as relevant artistic movements of the time (Rococo, Neoclassicism). Grammar will figure briefly: the Septième Étape of Trésors, covering les verbes pronominaux and le faire causatif. Students who wish for a deeper dive into the reflexive verbs will be encouraged to do so individually or in the workshop on November 21. Maximum 10 students.
