Andrew Schilling
Andrew Schilling was a career diplomat with the U.S. Department of State, specializing in strategic communications. In his 24 years with the foreign service, Andy served as a public affairs officer at U.S. embassies in Warsaw, Oslo, Vienna, Rome and Tokyo. Following his foreign service career, Andy resettled his family to Omaha, and was employed at First National Bank of Omaha and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Since 2021, Andy has been an adjunct professor at UNO teaching international business and business communications. Andy has tested with The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and scored at the Advanced level in spoken and written French. Andy is a board member of the Omaha Sister Cities Association, and was closely involved in the successful plan to form a “jumellage” (partnership) with Isigny-Omaha Intercom, the French towns along Omaha Beach. Andy graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Modern Languages. He is fluent in German, Italian and French, and speaks or reads six other languages, including Japanese. He and his wife Tracy met in a French class at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, many years ago.
Andrew Schilling a été diplomate de carrière au Département d'État américain, spécialisé dans les communications stratégiques. Au cours de 24 années de service, Andy a été officier des affaires publiques dans les ambassades américaines à Varsovie, Oslo, Vienne, Rome et Tokyo. Après sa carrière dans le Service extérieur, Andy s'est réinstallé à Omaha avec sa famille. Il fut employé par la First National Bank of Omaha et il servi conjointement à la chambre de commerce d'Omaha. Depuis 2021, Andy est professeur auxiliaire à l'Université de Nebraska (Omaha), enseignant le commerce international et la communication d'entreprise. Andy a noté au niveau Avancé en français (parlé et écrit) avec l'organisation qui établit la norme d'évaluation des compétences en langues étrangères dans ce pays - le "American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Langues". Andy est membre du conseil d'administration de l'Association "Omaha Sister Cities". Il a contribué à la mise en œuvre d'un "jumellage" (partenariat) avec Isigny-Omaha Intercom; Isigny représente une série de communes voisines de Omaha Beach en Normandie. Andy est diplômé de l'Université de Notre Dame avec un Baccalauréat ès arts en langues modernes. Il parle couramment l'allemand, l'italien et le français, et parle ou lit six autres langues, dont le japonais. Andy et sa femme Tracy se sont rencontrés dans une classe de français au Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, il y a de nombreuses années.
